FAQ

Are you new to sports massage, or want some clarification on treatments such as IASTM or Myofascial Cupping before you book? Feel free to browse the FAQs below. If you have further questions please do not hesitate to call for your free consultation.

Is sports massage only for athletes?

No. While it’s tailored for athletes, anyone can benefit from sports massage, especially those with muscle tension, repetitive strain, or injuries.

Comfortable clothing is recommended. Your body will always be properly draped during the session.

You might feel relaxed, looser, and more mobile. Mild soreness in treated areas is also normal, especially after deep work.

Always keep well hydrated after a massage, this will ensure you have the maximum benefits from the massage, and help your body process any toxins released from the massage.

Treatment can sometimes hit a spot that can  cause pain by using techniques to get deep into the muscles to free any adhesions.

However throughout the treatment I will be asking and ensuring the pressure is ok and  will make adjustments if required.

It depends on your activity level and goals. Athletes may benefit from weekly sessions, while others may find monthly or occasional sessions sufficient.

I would reccomend for most people once per month to keep in tip top shape.

IASTM (instrument assisted soft tissue mobilisation) is a soft tissue technique using tools to assist with manipulating the underlying tissues. The tool is used to scrape the skin and targets the structures below but it is generally painless. It offers the client increased blood flow (helping to get nutrients to an area, speeding up recovery), also helps to reduce pain in the tissues and increases fascial activity, therefore promoting an enhanced restoration of muscles, ligaments and tendons.

Cupping therapy uses one or a number of cups by suction, applied to the body in specific areas. The eastern (modern) cupping is borrowed from ancient healing practice from South America and Asia.

It works wonders by improving blood flow, stimulating new blood vessel formation, and bringing nutrients to injured areas. It’s great for breaking down muscle knots, reducing tension, and boosting flexibility

Cupping will leave you with round marks that do fade overtime. They’re painless and usually gone within 1-2 weeks.
